Thousands of Migrants Stranded as Hungary Closes its Borders

Thousands tried to rush through Croatia and across the border before Hungary closed the border at midnight, and those who didn't make it through may be left stranded on their way to western Europe

Hungary says it has taken steps to 'protect the freedoms' of European citizens by closing the border with Croatia to economic migrants at midnight.
The eleventh-hour closure means that thousands of migrants attempting to rush over the 'green border' into Hungary at the last minute may now be stranded in Croatia.
Experts warn that those who didn't make it across will be stuck in a country ill-equipped to deal with the massive influx of migrants from countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Hungary suddenly announce the closure today after EU leaders in Brussels failed to agree on a plan to send EU forces to stop migrants from reaching Greece, backed by the eastern nation.
It left little time for migrants to cross into the country on their way to countries such as Germany, meaning many who have already made it this far suddenly face crippling uncertainty.
