Every Problem Holds Positive Possibilities.
Marion Donovan a female architect in the late forties was faced with the problem of having to change her daughters cloth diapers, along with the mess the soiled diaper made to the surrounding bed sheets and her daughters clothing. She had to come up with a solution. So with the use of a sewing machine and a shower curtain, she succeeded in developing what is considered the first water proof diaper cover.
Not only did this diaper keep the bed and clothing from becoming soiled, it also did not cause chafing or diaper rash. She did not only solve the problem of millions of mothers, she made a lot of profit too. She was granted four patents for her diaper cover including the use of plastic snaps as opposed to safety pins. She made a million dollars in 1951 from the sale of one of her patents.
Tough people believe that every problem holds positive possibilities to open new creative opportunities. One man’s poison is another man’s meat. What exists as a problem to others is an opportunity for another.
Hidden in the complexity of every problem is that secret gold mine. If only one can be patient enough to discover it and mine it. As hard as the sting of a bee is, it can also produce honey. Hospitals exist because people are sick. Lawyers are in business because people violate laws. Banks exist because people have to save money with the confidence that their money will remain safe and also the banks capitalize on this by trading with their money to make more profit. Monasteries, cemeteries, colleges, churches and universities all exist for the purpose of helping people through their problem times.
There is a positive possibility in every problem. Thomas Edison was afraid of the dark before he invented the light bulb and with the help of J.P Morgan, an investor, he was able to make millions of dollars.
What problem are you facing? Look deeply into it there is a positive opportunity in there. That is the attitude of tough people who come out of tough times. Be optimistic!!!
